Concept: “Tokaido” has long been the most famous and popular Road that connects east and west in Japan. Tokaido has always been with our travels from the old pilgrimage and even to today’s business trips on Shinkansen. On the Tokaido, Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, was and still is particularly symbolic. While Mt. Fuji is a fearful presence that brings natural disaster, and its greatness has been praised as a sacred place connecting the earth and heaven.  Such Tokaido and Mt. Fuji have been inspiring many artists of all time. Since Bernard Buffet Museum is also located of fuji's foot, in this exhibition, we would present the various expressions of the charms of Tokaido and Mt. Fuji through the artists from different times.  We sincerely hope that the exhibition would be an opportunity for the audience to re-discover the charm of the Tokaido of their own.
