Haus des Papiers - Museum für Bildende Papierkunst invites you to the new exhibition Papier im Raum - Spatial Paper with new paper artworks that have recently been added to the museum collection.

Paper Residency ! 2021
Eleni Wittbrodt / Fee Kleiß / Alicja Kwade / FRANZ JYRCH

Since 2017, the Paper Residency ! has invited international artists to work experimentally with paper as a material. Each year, a jury of art-scene players selects four fellows for three summer residencies at the Canon printing workshop d'mage-light in Berlin and one residency at the studio hosted by Whitebox Art in Munich. The hosts - the companies d'mage, Canon, Hahnemühle - are providing paper and prints worth up to €60,000 for the residencies.

The new exhibition will initially feature works by Berlin-based sculptor and painter Fee Kleiß (*1984) and Glagow-based artist Eleni Wittbrodt (*1990). While Eleni Wittbrodt explored the object-like nature of paper by means of perforation, Fee Kleiß pushed paper to the limits of the familiar and gave her paper works a new materiality.

Paper Art Award 2021
Fiene Scharp (Gold) / Astrid Busch (Silver) / Angela Glajcar (Bronze)

On 19 August 2021, the new highly endowed art prize Paper Art Award was presented at paper positions berlin; the prize was donated by the triumvirate d'mage, Canon and Hahnemühle. They have joined forces with the organisers of the paper positions berlin art fair to promote the appreciation of paper as a material in the visual arts.

The works of this year's award winners - Fiene Scharp (Galerie Kuckei+Kuckei, Berlin), Astrid Busch (Galerie Rupert Pfab, Düsseldorf) and Angela Glajcar (Galerie Nanna Preußners, Hamburg) - add to the Haus des Papiers collection of artworks on paper with both their materiality and their various types - from filigree grid paper paper cuts, paper tears that become objects, to refined floating Japanese papers.
