"But, you may say, we asked you to speak about women and fiction - what, has that got to do with a room of one's own? I will try to explain. When you asked me to speak about women and fiction I sat down on the banks of a river and began to wonder what the words meant..." - Virginia Woolf. A Room for One's Own, 1929

The short introduction by Virginia Woolf is leading us to a universal discussion about a room for creation, room for silence and of course room for art. In our exhibition we use the book as a narration for the aesthetic and thematic efforts of the works of art. A room in which ideas take shape and imagination becomes reality. A room that Virginia Woolf missed in the literary and artistic world and that is urgently needed in order to be perceived. Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle is honored to present the works of a wide variety of outstanding female artists in our upcoming exhibition.

Artists: Helene Appel, Candida Höfer, Leiko Ikemura, Goshka Macuga, Judy Rifka, Kiki Smith, Susan Weil, Marthe Wéry.
