The exhibition I Will Look Into the Earth offers a unique overview of the Miettinen Collection, presented in such a comprehensive form for the first time. Featuring over 100 works by more than 50 artists, the exhibition delves into the core themes of the collection. The spectrum ranges from abstract painting to portraiture, queer and political art, design, fashion, floral subjects, as well as landscapes and nature.
The collection was founded by Timo Miettinen and his mother, with an initial focus on Finnish landscape painting from the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 2004, Timo Miettinen has expanded the collection to include international contemporary art, which forms the focus of the exhibition. The works on display span from the 1980s to the present day and offer a wide-ranging insight into the diversity of the collection. The exhibition is curated by Linda Peitz and Florian Peters-Messer.
