Solo exhibition
Her latest installation combines poetry, painting, and Video -- Exhibition “Ikari to Hikari,” commemorating the publication of Leiko Ikemura's new art book, opens on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
To celebrate the publication of “Ikari to Hikari: Poems, Memories, Thoughts and Artworks,” a solo exhibition “Ikari to Hikari” will be held from Saturday, April 5 to Wednesday, April 23 at GINZA ATRIUM, an event space in Tsutaya Books, Ginza.
Ikemura has been writing about 130 poems, free haiku, and short essays over the years. The book, “Ikari to Hikari: Poems, Memories, Thoughts and Artworks,” which contains her writings, will be released by Bijutsu Shuppansha on Monday, April 7. This exhibition, inspired by the book, will feature a new installation that combines the poems with glass works, paintings, and video works created especially for this exhibition. A special limited edition book will be on sale to commemorate this exhibition. This book includes an editioned artwork “Usagi Greeting,” one of Ikemura's best-known series, “Usagi Kannon. Other editioned artworks will also be on display at the exhibition.

Ikari to Hikari -- Anger and light -- swirling in Ikemura's heart and her pride as an artist are shown in the exhibition place.
New Publication "Ikari to Hikari: Poems, Memories, Thoughts and Artworks"
[Opening Reception]
A reception will be held on Friday, April 4, from 18:00 to 20:00, with the artist in the gallery.
During the reception, from 18:30 to 19:00, there will be a reading of excerpts from the poems in this book and a performance.
Everyone is welcome to attend during the exhibition period.
[Artwork for sale]
Works exhibited at the exhibition will be on sale from 11:00 on Saturday, April 5. (Depending on pre-sale conditions, sales may end before the exhibition begins.)
In addition, a special limited edition with “Usagi Greeting,” from one of Ikemura's most famous works, “Usagi Kannon,” will be on sale during the exhibition period to commemorate the exhibition.
