The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo has a collection of approximately 5,800 works of modern and contemporary art with a focus on postwar art. A series of exhibitions "MOT Collection" present works from the collection from various perspectives during each exhibition period in an effort to communicate the diverse appeal of contemporary art.

30th Anniversary Pre-Program
Leiko Ikemura and Mark Manders. Rising Light / Frozen Moment
To commemorate the museum's 30th anniversary, the 3rd floor will host the “30th Anniversary Pre-Program: Leiko Ikemura and Mark Manders. Rising Light / Frozen Moment” including special presentations of works by Leiko Ikemura and Mark Manders. The exhibition will feature works by Ikemura, who uses vibrant colors and images to express various aspects of the creation and change of things in this world, and the tense space of Mark Manders, who captures frozen moments, both of which will be specially composed with works from outside the museum collection. The exhibition also includes prints by Tetsuro Komai and others, and paintings by Robert Ryman, Agnes Martin, and others.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the museum's opening on March 18, 2025, the 3rd floor of the Collection Exhibition Room will host the “30th Anniversary Pre-Program: Leiko Ikemura and Mark Manders. Rising Light / Frozen Moment” which includes a special exhibition of Leiko Ikemura, who have newly joined the collection, and Mark Manders, who was unable to visit Japan for his solo exhibition in 2020. The exhibition will be held under the direction of both artists in a large exhibition space including works from outside the collection. Paintings and glass sculptures by Leiko Ikemura, recently acquired from the collection, will be exhibited for the first time in the collection exhibition. Please enjoy these must-see installations, which are only available in this exhibition.
