Next World – The Power to Dream

Lying in Dark Red, 2004, oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm © Leiko Ikemura and VG Bildkunst, 2022.

This exhibition will be held in conjunction with the Taguchi Art Collection, one of Japan's leading contemporary art collections that collect from a global perspective and transcend national borders—the countries and regions that the collection represents include Japan, Europe, America, and Asia. Works from the Taguchi Art Collection are complemented by the museum's collection of "outstanding postwar art from Japan and abroad," which has been a pillar of the collection since the opening of the museum in 1984. This is a collaborative exhibition that introduces a wide range of fascinating contemporary art.

The 95 unique works of art in the galleries, including paintings, sculptures, and video works, will invite us to enter the next world of art, where each work and each artist's thoughts will walk into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts.

The Taguchi Art Collection, the Iwaki City Art Museum's collection, and visitors will enjoy meeting and communicating with one another at the museum. Together, they shall experience the appeal and power of art that is appropriate for the new era.
