Last February the artist Chris Hunter (*1983 Flims) together with museum educators Alexa Giger and Laura Gonzalez and the third form children from the Nicolay schoolhouse Chur, visited our collection depot. There they came across a portrait representing Anna von Planta who had once lived in the Villa Planta of the Art Museum. To the curious eyes of the children it almost seemed as though the ghost of Anna von Planta had just stepped out of the painting. And so the theme of the exhibition was born: The ghosts of the art world. Workshops followed both in the atelier and in the woods. Masks, costumes, and dwellings were created. Chris Hunter filmed a shadow play produced by the children and made a recording of their sounds in the woods. In the first room of the exhibition the sworn-in gang builds an installation of branches. It looks like a forest clearing and leads the way into an exhibition that creates associative relationships by the interplay between works of the collection and video projections.
